Phone Calls for the Doctors

Many problems don't require you to wait for an appointment or come all the way in to the office. We are happy to solve such problems by telephone. When you call the office, let the receptionist know what type of problem you are having, as the most urgent calls are answered first. If you are calling for test results, let the receptionist know what kind of test, so the medical records clerk can make sure the result is on the chart when your doctor calls you. Remember that it may take time for your results to be available to us; we will hold your message and contact you when we receive them.

Please leave both your day and home phone numbers; our doctors will try to call you as soon as they can, even if they are kept late in the office by emergencies.

Try to allow sufficient time for a return call. If you call repeatedly, it may actually cause your call-back to take longer. If your chart has been triaged for urgency or is waiting for a test result and is pulled out of the queue because there is a new message, you could lose your place in line.

Our clerks ask you questions because the doctors have instructed them to ask questions. We need your date of birth because there may be several patients with the same name. We need the reason for your call so patients whose personal problem requires them to come in the office immediately are called before those whose personal problem requires an insurance form to be completed.
